The plan was that I would stay in Saudi Arabia and work for my family’s business while my wife finishes her schooling in the United States. However, things don’t always come as you wish. My plan is kind of wholly blown. Due to complications caused by a twisted combination of government and family issues, neither I nor my wife can go back to the United States or stay in Saudi Arabia. Thus, we’ve decided to move to Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. There, I should start a new business of my own while my wife goes to the university.
I’m sorry for my wife since she’s an excellent student and doesn’t need to put up with this mess. As for myself, I’m quite happy. Things didn’t turn up as I expected in Saudi Arabia. Family business is a mess and I’m not in a position where I could help with the clean-up. To my family, I’m still a nobody, so until I have built myself a little, I better stay away and watch from a distance. That’s my conclusion.
Since I’m on the topic of building myself. Tomorrow I have an interview with the National Commercial Bank in Saudi Arabia. They said the “regional director” wants to meet with me. So tomorrows interview would be the…um…5th interview for the job. First, the human resource guy interviewed me. A couple of days later, I was called to attend an assessment program. Now, a couple of weeks afterward, the regional director wants to interview me. I suspect tomorrow is going to be the contract signing session. Of course, I ain’t gonna sign nothing despite the relatively high salary that they offer during the training period, 12,000 SR. I expect this figure to go up after I’m graduated from the 6-9 months training program. Anyhow, it doesn’t matter. I’m moving out.
